Duties
Coordinate the faculty research service, including the hiring, training and supervision of student employees; staff the reference desk as scheduled and provide general reference services to patrons using traditional methods as well as emerging technologies; prepare and teach Advanced Legal Research and other courses as assigned; contribute to the law and library professions by participating in local, regional and national meetings, presentations and activities and/or writing for professional publications; contribute to collection development process.
Required
A JD from an ABA accredited school and MLS from an ALA accredited school
Preferred
Knowledge of legal materials and current research methods
Organizational and management skills and ability to work as part of a team
Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff and the public
Legal analytical skills
Supervisory skills
Three or more years academic law librarian or law practice experience
Demonstrated teaching ability and teaching experience desirable
Knowledge and experience in web content management desirable
The Kathrine R. Everett Law Library has 12 librarians, 9 staff members and a broad collection of electronic, multimedia and print resources. The library serves 700 law students and a faculty of 50 (http://library.law.unc.edu/). The University of North Carolina is a major research University, enrolling over 27,000 students supported by 22 libraries.
