Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW: BNA, a publisher of legal and regulatory
information, seeks a Washington, D.C. area cataloger to
apply bibliographic standards of organization and
classification to publications and resources owned by BNA.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain metadata records for all BNA
publications; ensure accuracy, completeness, and currency of
the metadata in OCLC; remain current with standards, best
practices, tools, and systems for resource description,
metadata and access, and advise employees on their use;
provide recommendations to increase content re-use and
resource efficiency; organize print and electronic resources
acquired by BNA by creating metadata to describe and
classify the material; ensure accuracy, completeness, and
currency of the Library’s on-line catalog; and provide
cataloging-in-publication (CIP) data for BNA publications.

REQUIREMENTS: 1+ years' experience cataloging legal
materials using cataloging standards (AACR2), MARC, and
Library of Congress (LC) classification and subject
headings; thorough knowledge of cataloging/metadata concepts
and principles and their business applications;
understanding of copyright and fair use a plus; demonstrated
ability to communicate bibliographic procedures to editorial
management and technical staff; ability to work effectively
with persons on all levels, both inside and outside BNA;
top-notch customer service; accuracy and attention to
detail. Master’s degree in Library Science OR demonstrated
enrollment in a Masters in Library/Information Science
program with experience requirements as stated above.

SCHEDULE: Part-time position, up to 22.5 hours per week.
Preferred schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but
days and number of hours are negotiable.

$25/hour.
