Description: Is your dream job in Management and Youth Services? The Deschutes Public Library has an extraordinary opportunity for you! This is one position with two distinct roles.

As the Sisters Branch Manager you have unique opportunities to enrich the lives of the staff and customers at both a local and a district-wide level. You will be serving a wide range of age groups, from babies to senior citizens, in the small and supportive community of Sisters. You will lead the professional development of your team, empowering them to grow and develop. Creativity, leadership, and collaboration are key talents of your influential role.

As the Branch Manager, you will manage, coach and assess a team of 3.75 FTE who provide a range of services to the Sisters community. You are also responsible for creating, encouraging, and sustaining excellent internal and external customer service, seeking and maintaining community partnerships (including the Friends of the Library), and participating in a district-wide team to provide services for children, teens and adults. The Manager is also responsible for budgets and interpreting policies and procedures.

As the Children’s Librarian, you are responsible for providing early literacy based story times and programming for all ages from 0-11 years, collaboration on and promotion of the summer reading program and other district-wide programs, outreach, and reader’s advisory for all ages. You are an integral member of a collaborative, award-winning, district-wide management team, whose shared goal is the success of the Deschutes Public Library, enriching the lives of our staff and customers, and achieving Board results.

A Masters in Library Science is required. Experience working in management and with children is preferred.

The city of Sisters is a modern western community that has a diversified entrepreneurial economy that includes art and culture, light industry, natural resource-based businesses, and small retail. The Sisters Public Library is one of six libraries in the Deschutes Public Library system. It is located in the northwest part of Central Oregon at the base of the Three Sisters Mountains. The Library serves preschools, public and private schools, and day care centers. The Sisters Library has a very active Friends group and a strong volunteer program. The Sisters Community views the library as an essential resource and community gathering place.

Central Oregon is a beautiful area with nearby mountains and lakes that offers year-round fun and a wide range of activities. Our diverse communities showcase celebrations and activities that include outdoor events, music, art, and theater. This area is a mecca for individual and group outdoor activities
