| Job Description |
The Barton County Library Board of Trustees is seeking a director for its three-branch library system. Applicants for this position should be energetic, self-motivated, creative, and goal oriented. A thorough knowledge of financial management is critical as is the ability to work with Microsoft Office and Quick Books. The prospective director should have an excellent knowledge of library trends and best practices. The preferred candidate should have experience with administrative duties and skills in strategic and visionary planning for programs, services, and facilities. The director must have excellent customer service and public relations skills with the ability to work effectively with a library board and a variety of community agencies and organizations as well as local government.
Qualifications: Minimum Bachelors of Arts or Science degree with an ALA/MLS and library experience preferred. Any employment offer will be subject to a reference and background check.
Compensation: Salary range: $25,000-$35,000. Salary and vacation commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, and personal days. No paid insurance.
Community: Barton County Library serves 12,541 citizens and is situated in the southwest corner of Missouri. The library system includes the main library in Lamar and branches in Liberal and Golden City.
The Barton County area offers a variety of activities and amenities such as a family aquatic park that includes indoor and outdoor pools, a 55-acre Lamar City Park, Lamar City Lake, Prairie State Park, Stilabower Observatory, a semi-private golf and country club, Critical Access hospital, renovated Plaza Theater, and outstanding school system. The Thiebaud Auditorium is home to the Lamar Community Theater and other cultural activities.
Many recreation and vacation spots are accessible such as Stockton Lake, Kansas City, Tulsa, and the Branson entertainment area.
