Job Description |
In tandem with City mission and goals, develops a vision of excellence for library and information services programs to include facilities, personnel, resources and technology.
Develops and maintains strategic plan to promote focused growth and development of library and information services. Defines, develops, and articulates performance standards and strategies for meeting library's strategic goals and objectives. Develops policies and procedures using goals and objectives of the Library and City of Pasadena. Analyzes staffing; recruits, selects, evaluates and hires appropriate personnel. Fosters organizational culture that promotes excellent customer service; equitable and accessible facilities, resources and services; quality collections that are responsive to community needs; a safe and secure work environment; and organizational climate that promotes staff development and teamwork.
Establishes partnerships with other service providers and organizations to extend our library services, to raise community awareness and participation in the library's role and services. Seeks grants and other funding opportunities to supplement Library's budget. Establishes environment of productivity, service orientation, and good stewardship through responsible leadership and fiscal accountability. Defines scope of collection development. Actively markets library services on local, state, and national levels. Effectively evaluates and recommends the use of technology to improve staff productivity and provide excellent customer service.
Works with library advisory board, Friends executive board and community groups to develop and maintain a strong advocacy program for library services. Participates in the public librarianship profession by keeping abreast of current practices and trends in the profession and committing to furthering recognition of librarianship profession's standing by actively participating in professional organizations. Schedule varies. Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends. |
