Job Description Director of the Law Library, Georgia State University College of LawDescription: Georgia State University College of Law invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of the Law Library. This position is available on either a tenure-track or non-tenure-track basis, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and interest. The Library Director is responsible for the planning and overall administration of the library, including budgeting, hiring, collection development, long-range planning, and leading in a technology-rich environment. The Director will work closely with the Dean and faculty members in order to develop and implement comprehensive library services that support scholarly research and the law curriculum, including the teaching of legal research. The Director will comply with ABA and AALS accreditation standards and participate in local, regional, and national library professional associations. The Director will contribute to law librarianship through professional activities outside of the law library, including University and public service, and/or research and other creative activity that relate to and enhance performance of the primary position responsibilities.The Library Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Law, who is committed to building and supporting an active and responsible law library. On a continuing basis, the Director meets with the administrative team of the College of Law. Ground for a new law school building will be broken in the next few years, and the Library Director will be an integral part of the team working on the design, planning, and implementation of the new building. The successful candidate will have vision in planning and the ability to work in a collaborative law environment.The Library Director will perform other duties including committee assignments and special projects as assigned by the Dean.Requirements: Applicants must hold both a J.D. and an M.L.S. or equivalent degree from accredited programs. Strong candidates will possess a progressive vision, dynamic interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to create and lead a team to advance the mission of the law school.
